The THRIVE booklet was written by students in the Fall 2010 Sexuality Counseling course as part of a service-learning project. The community partner for this project was Triad Health Project (http://www.triadhealthproject.com/).
The mission of Thrive is to support women with HIV/AIDS in empowering themselves to (a) live long and full lives embracing hope and community, (b) feel proud to be survivors who are capable of receiving support from partners, friends, peers, and family, and (c) recognize the importance of self-care, self-worth, and fun.
This booklet was written for women who have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. This booklet includes information about how to: (a) disclose and talk about your diagnosis with important supports in your lives, (b) continue to have a social, professional, and dating life, and (c) engage in self-care. This booklet also includes a list of resources for women with HIV/AIDS and your support networks.
The students who created this resource are Whitney Akers, Abby Illig, Hannah Myung, Nicole Tate, and Emily Teague. The Sexuality Counseling course is taught by Dr. Christine E. Murray (http://www.uncg.edu/ced/faculty/murray.html).
