Mycosynthetix, Inc.
Mycosynthetix is a biotechnology company in Hillsborough, NC that thas a unique library of over 55,000 cultures of filamentous fungi. My research team and I have been collaborating with them for nearly a decade. Besides the Ongoing Projects, we routinely work together on new business ideas including early stage projects, possibly fundable through Federal agencies, as well as commercial projects. I also serve on their Scientific Advisory Board.
Advisory Boards:
Besides the above, I serve on the boards of several organizations, typically providing advice and ideas surrounding the field of natural products. I am on the Editorial Advisory Board for “Progress in the Chemistry of Organic Natural Products”, a book series that has been published since 1938 (often referred to as “Zechmeister”). I am also a member of the Advisory Boards for the American Botanical Council, an organization that may be most well known for publication of the periodical, HerbalGram, and for the journal “Planta Medica”, an International Journal of Natural Products and Medicinal Plant Research. There is a Center for Botanical Lipids and Inflammatory Disease Prevention at nearby Wake Forest University, and I am a member of the External Advisory Committee. Internal to UNCG, I am an advisor to the North Carolina Entrepreneurship Center, an organization that strives to prepare students for the workplace of tomorrow, particularly those that want to create their own businesses. I am also very engaged with the American Society of Pharmacognosy as a member of the Executive Committee.
