Dr. Mitchell P. Croatt Assistant Professor
|
Mitch was born in 1980 in the town of New Prague, Minnesota. He went to the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 1998 and earned his B.S. in Chemistry after doing research in the research group of Professor George A. O'Doherty. In 2002, Mitch then went to Stanford University to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemistry in the group of Professor Paul A. Wender. He focused his graduate research on the design and development of new transition metal-catalyzed reactions and successfully defended his thesis in 2007. Mitch then went overseas to Zurich, Switzerland to study in the group of Professor Erick M. Carreira at ETH-Zurich. There he made semi-synthetic analogs of Amphotericin B to help study its mechanism of action. In 2010, Mitch started his independent academic career at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. | ||||||||

Dr. Maria Elena Meza Aviña Elena received her undergraduate degree from the Universidad del Noreste in Tamaulipas, Mexico in 1993 and her Ph.D. from the Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Morelos in Morelos, Mexico in 2005 in the group of Prof. Mario Fernandez Zertuche. She joined the research group of Prof. Lakshmi P. Kotra as a postdoctoral fellow from 2006-2010 when she joined the Croatt group as a postdoctoral scholar. |

Dr. I. F. Dempsey Hyatt Dempsey earned his BS in Chemistry and BA in Mathematics from East Carolina University in 2005 and did undergraduate research with Prof. Andrew L. Sargent. Dempsey went on to get his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Florida in 2010 in the group of Prof. Michael J. Scott and joined the Croatt group in 2011. |

Manahil Abdalhameed Manahil obtained her BS in Chemistry and Biology from Khartoum University in Sudan in 2004. She then moved to the US and earned her Masters in Chemistry from NC A&T State University in 2009. She started her Ph.D. studies at UNCG in 2010 and joined the Croatt Group in 2011 |

Lara Al Fakhouri Lara earned in BS in Pharmacy and Masters in Medicinal Chemistry from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2002 and 2005, respectively. She then taught there for three years before coming to UNCG to begin her PhD studies in the Croatt group in 2011 |

Ghina'a Abu Deiab Ghina'a obtained her BS in Pharmacy from Jordan University of Science and Technology in Jordan in 2006. In 2010, she attended the same university to get her Masters in Organic Chemistry. Ghina'a began her PhD studies in the Croatt Group in 2012.

Daniel Nasrallah Daniel is an undergraduate majoring in chemistry with a concentration in research and has been working in the Croatt lab since his freshman year. Daniel was also a recipient of the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship in 2012 for his work in the field of chemistry. |
