Dr. Kimberly S. Petersen Assistant Professor
|
Kim received her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2000. She then worked for Sigma Aldrich and the United States Department of Agriculture before continuing her education. In 2009, Kim was awarded a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland studying with Professor Gary Posner. She then went on to do postdoctoral research with Professor Brian Stoltz at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California. Kim started her independent career at UNCG in the Fall of 2011. | |||||||

Andy Stacy Andy received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from UNCG and then taught high school science for a year. Currently he is an officer in the North Carolina National Guard and working on a masters in chemistry in the Petersen lab.

Amanda Benavides Amanda has a BS in Chemistry from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. She is working on her PhD in medicinal biochemistry and joined the Petersen group in November of 2011.

Jennifer Wilent Jennifer earned her B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2008 and 2010. Jennifer joined the Petersen group in 2011.

Barrett Honeycutt Barrett earned his BS in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005. He worked in the financial services industry, providing technology consulting services to clients, before enrolling at UNCG in 2011 to prepare for application to medical school. He joined the Petersen Group in 2012.

Amanda Jill Petree-Mabe Jill received her undergraduate degree from East Carolina University in 2010. She then decided to take more classes in the chemistry department at UNCG and began classes in the Summer of 2010. She joined the Petersen lab group in August 2011. |

Benjamin Wiener Ben received his B.S. in Applied Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010. Ben worked at Duke University's Medical Center in the Brain Tumor Pathology group and he is currently taking classes in chemistry, biology, and computer science in order to apply to medical school and graduate programs.

Matthew Ballard Matt is an undergraduate student majoring in chemistry and joined the Petersen group in 2011.

Ghassan Qabaja Ghassan earned his Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from Northeastern. University in 2000, worked in the industry for 9 years and joined the Petersen group in 2011.

Kaumba Sakavuyi Kaumba recieved his BS in chemistry from Norfolk State University in 2004 and did undergraduate research under the supervision of Prof. Joseph C. Hall and went on to recieve a Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Purdue University under Prof. P. Veeraraghavan Ramachadran in 2011. He moved to UNC-G and joined the Petersen Group in 2012.
