Iliad Project Guidelines

Your written report should contain....

All your assertions about the Iliad must be based on evidence from the Iliad.

Evidence should consist of actual passages from the Iliad, cited in the following manner:

So sat the ranks of Trojans and Greeks
Across the plain.
                            And Hector spoke to them:
'Hear me out, Trojans and Achaean warriors,
Until I have spoken what my heart commands.
Zeus on High has made our oaths nothing.'
                                Iliad 7.68-72

Note that the quoted passage is indented, and that the line endings are exactly as they appear in your edition of the Iliad. Do not run the lines together, since you are quoting poetry, not prose. Passages should be cited by book and line numbers, not by page numbers.

Projects should be submitted electronically as text or Microsoft Word attachments to an e-mail message sent to me.

Projects will be posted anonymously -- only group names will be shown -- on the course web site.
