CLASSROOM GROUND RULESAttendance: Since 25% of your course grade depends on your class participation, your attendance is required. Attendance will be taken each day after the drop-add period is over. Missing more than three classes may result in your grade being lowered drastically or your being dropped from the course.
Things to avoid!
- Eating in class. The smell, sight, and sound of your lunch will distract your fellow students. Beverages that can be drunk quietly are not a problem.
- Walking out of the classroom for "breaks". I get the greatest number of student complaints on this score. If you don't want to come to class, that's up to you, but once you're there, please stay in your seat for the entire class period. Most students find it very distracting (not to mention rude) when other students are moving in and out of the classroom during lectures or discussion.
- Arriving late. Parking and auto maintenance are a problem for most of us, so plan ahead. If other obligations will keep you from arriving to class on time, you should re-schedule -- either your other obligations, or your course schedule.
