Student Learning Goals:

At the end of the semester students will:

  1. Demonstrate familiarity with the major archaeological monuments of ancient Greece in their cultural and historical context.
  2. Demonstrate a familiarity with the origins and stylistic development of these monuments, including primarily architecture, sculpture and vase painting, from the Geometric period to the Hellenistic period, ca. 1100-100 BC.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the influence Classical Greek monuments have had on later architectural and artistic traditions of Western Civilization.
