On this red figure pelike (460 B.C.) in the New York Metropolitan Musuem, Kronos stands at the left as Rhea presents him with a rock in swaddling clothes. Thinking this is the newly born Zeus, Kronos will swallow the rock and ultimately be defeated by his son. |
