- An efficient blocking artifacts reduction technique for digital video coding (December 1997 – March 1998) – the Department of Industry, Science & Tourism (DIST), Australia under the Commonwealth Grant: Bilateral Science and Technology Collaboration Program – research was conducted at Multimedia Communications Lab, University of Texas at Arlington – A$8,500.
- High Performance Computing (2004-2006): Received, as the UNCG principle investigator, a multi-campus (ASU – primary Institution) award from the Office of the President of UNC – the total amount of this award is $650,000.00, from which UNCG receives $84,812.00 – it allows several universities and colleges to be connected via NCREN (the North Carolina Research and Education Network) to promote computational science and high performance computing in comprehensive universities and colleges – I have set up an 8-grid network (1 master, 7 slaves, firewall, Ethernet router and switch) at UNCG for teaching and research – I taught Cryptography and Network Security course using videoconferencing network to the students from different campuses.
- Isolated TCP/IP Networks (2002): I have been awarded the UNCG Advancement in Teaching and Learning grant – using this grant, I set up an isolated LAN – this isolated network provides flexibility to the students enabling them to capture real network packets and analyze security features without interference with the campus-wide network. This infrastructure has improved research and the delivery of undergraduate/graduate course CSC567: Principles of Computer Networks – $3000.00.
