The UNCG Department of Computer Science is looking for a part-time instructor to teach one class in Spring 2010, Monday and Wednesday evenings 5:30-6:45.
The course is CSC 110, Computational Problem Solving, which is a course designed to cover fundamental mathematical problem solving techniques and mathematics concepts in a computational setting. The course uses the Python programming language, but it is not necessary that the instructor have any prior experience with Python -- this language was selected because it is easy to learn and doesn't have a lot of complexity that would get in the way of the fundamental concepts we are stressing, so any instructor with prior experience programming (in any language) should be able to learn the Python essentials quickly. The instructor for this section would coordinate with an experienced full-time instructor who is teaching another section of the class.
Requirements: The instructor for this class should have at least a Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or computer science. Experience teaching mathematics to general education students is a definite plus.
Interested applicants should send a vita with a cover letter describing their qualifications and teaching experience to Prof. Stephen Tate either by email to srtate@uncg.edu or by physical mail to
