A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required. Provisional admission may be granted on recommendation of the Program Director if the student GPA is slightly lower. The GRE is required. It is a University requirement though we look primarily at the verbal scores, not the math section. GRE scores that are more than 5 years old do not count, and students have to re-take the GRE for new scores.
Foreign students who are not native speakers of English and who have not done their undergraduate degree work in English will be required to submit TOEFL or IELTS test scores with their applications. You may be asked to formally document that your undergraduate program was conducted in English.
Applicants
will be required to complete a UNCG application form and undergraduate
transcripts, three letters of reference and a personal essay. The personal
essay should be 200-350 words and discuss why and how the MA in Conflict
Resolution fits into your life and career at this time, and your range
of expectations from the program. Interviews will focus on the personal
statement as a starting point.
All applicants will be interviewed by the Program Director or faculty in person or by telephone. You will be contacted after your application is complete and has been forwarded from the Graduate School Admissions office to the Conflict Resolution program office for review. Applications are accepted throughout the year but should be received by March 30 to be given consideration for the subsequent Fall. Each class is limited to 25 new students; if this maximum is not reached in the Fall, the program considers Spring admission to fill vacancies.
