Cathie
Witty, Program Director
Cathie Witty has a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley (1975), and a MFT degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL (2001). She has worked in Lebanon, Egypt and Kosovo in a variety of training, conflict and community building projects. Prior to coming to UNCG, she helped launch the Ph.D. program in Conflict Analysis at Nova Southeastern, was Chair of that department from 1995-1998, and worked to mainstream disabled children into schools and establish community based social services in Kosovo (2002-2003).
She loves living in North Carolina where she can plant bulbs again, and loves gardening, reading and touring local wineries in her spare time. She lives in Greensboro with her two dogs, Mira and Buddy, and two cats, Machka and Whiskers.
Sherrill
W. Hayes, Assistant Professor
Sherrill Hayes, received his Ph.D. in Social Policy (2005) from the University of Newcastle upon Thyne (UK) and joined the faculty in 2006 as the first full time faculty member. He has both a BA and MA from UNCG in Human Development and Family Studies. Prior to joining UNCG, Sherrill worked as a custody mediator for the local district court in Greensboro, and taught a variety of courses at GTCC.
Sherrill lives in Greensboro with his wife Jenny and his new daughter, Olivia, born in June of this year.
Tom
Matyók, Ph.D.
Tom Matyók is both a practitioner and an academic in the field of conflict analysis and resolution. He is highly regarded in the field of leadership development. Before arriving at UNCG, Dr. Matyók was the CEO of the International Seafarers’ Center where he researched and documented the working conditions of international merchant mariners.
Tom received his doctorate in conflict analysis and resolution from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The focus of his academic studies continues to be the resolution of conflict within organizations
Sherrill Roberts,
Administrative Support Associate
Sherrill Roberts is our Administrative Support Associate. She manages the daily administrative operations of the program from purchasing to catering. For students, she is the person to call if you have questions about scheduling, registration, leaves of absence, or classroom issues or other logistical issues or concerns.
