Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Community Engagement

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders actively reaches out to the community. The department offers two summer camp programs that benefit the community and enrich our graduate students experience. Horsepower is a therapeutic horseback riding program for children and adults who experience a wide range of disabilites. The Pre-School Language Literacy summer camp is for pre-school aged children who have a speech or language delay.

Graduate students also volunteer their time and energy to organize, fund raise, cook, and walk to support the Brain Injury Association of North Carolina. These efforts help to increase community awareness of brain injury and to raise funds for thousands of individuals in the state who are living with the chronic effects of brain injury.
