Sandie Barrie-Blackley, MA/CCC teaches the Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) undergraduate course, CSD 295 (Fundamentals of Speech and Language Analysis) in two sections: a hybrid section (01) that uses a mix of both on-line and face-to-face methods and a completely on-line and asynchronous section (02). She is also the Coordinator of CSD's Distance Learning Initiative. Ms. Barrie-Blackley has served as the coordinator of a U.S. Department of Education personnel preparation grant at UNCG. Her current research interests include language structure knowledge and knowledge calibration of speech-language pathologists and speech-language pathology students. Ms. Barrie-Blackley is also the owner and founder of the Language & Learning Clinic, PLLC, in Elkin, NC, a private practice specializing in disorders of reading and written language. She has training and experience with The Association Method, The Orton-Gillingham Method, The Lindamood-Bell Learning Systems Individual Phoneme Sequencing Program (LiPS) and Visualizing and Verbalizing Program, The Phono-Graphix Method, and The Language! Curriculum, and she serves on the Board of Directors of the NC Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. Ms. Barrie-Blackley has served as President of the NC Speech-Hearing-Language Association (NCSHLA) and in 1998 she received the NCSHLA Clinical Service Award. She served two terms on the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, chairing the committee charged with developing and implementing North Carolina's rules and regulations for Speech-Language Pathology Assistants. In 2008 Ms. Barrie-Blackley was elected to Fellowship in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
