Initiatives > Community Health Initiatives

Community Health Initiatives
are currently focused on:

  • An evaluation of a campus-based tobacco prevention program at the seven Guilford County colleges and universities and five middle and early colleges sites for Guilford County Schools
  • A curriculum integration approach to nutrition education at two elementary schools aimed at improving food choices, increasing knowledge of proper nutrition, and increasing awareness of nutrition as related to obesity prevention
  • A community health literacy assessment and planning process aimed at increasing access to appropriate health promotion/disease prevention education, improving communication between health care providers and community members (including persons with literacy and/or English language challenges), and increasing the sensitivity of health care providers around literacy issues.
