| Training and technical assistance activities focus on facilitating the implementation of best practices in the delivery of mental health and substance abuse services for children and adolescents including system of care. System of Care is a philosophy of service delivery based on values that the design, implementation and evaluation of the service be determined by the child and his or her family, be community-based, and culturally competent; that it is based on strengths; and that consumers and professionals work together in respectful relationships. The Center is working with local and state agencies as well as consumer groups on implementing system of care and empirically based interventions into preservice and inservice training, prevention and intervention programs in school settings and juvenile justice, into program evaluation, and policy.
