Call for Applications for the 2012-2013 Academic Year

The John Andrew and Margaret E. Robinson Memorial Fellowship in Communication Studies

The faculty in the Communication Studies Program invites letters of application for The John Andrew and Margaret E. Robinson Memorial Fellowship in Communication Studies. In 1989 Margaret Robinson established this graduate scholarship in honor of the life and work of her husband, who had a career in communications, with the US Merchant Marines, the US Army, and then AT&T. Upon Margaret Robinson's death in 2000 her children made an additional gift to the fund and renamed it to honor both John and Margaret Robinson. The amount of the award varies depending on the interest earned that year but has been approximately $700-1,000 per semester over the past few years.

ELIGIBILITY
The fellowship is awarded to a graduate student on the basis of merit. The student must be full-time during the semester(s) you receive the scholarship.

APPLICATION
Submit a 2-4 page letter documenting those accomplishments that concern merit. The letter might include such things as undergraduate and professional accomplishments in communication before entering the graduate program, academic achievements while in the program (including GPA and any special recognition), professional achievements while in the program (such as quality instruction as a teaching assistant, professional meetings attended, and scholarly papers read or published), extracurricular and community activity related to communication studies, and future goals.

Send the application to Dr. Etsuko Kinefuchi, Awards Committee Chair via e-mail (e_kinefu@uncg.edu).

The application is due by 5p.m., Monday, March 19, 2012. The reception of your application will be notified by e-mail. If you do not receive the notification at your UNCG e-mail address within a week from the deadline, please e-mail Dr. Kinefuchi. Questions should be directed to her as well.

The winner will be announced in mid-April.
