National Speaking Scholarship Awarded

Communication Studies minor, Kissy Gomes, has a penchant for service learning and volunteer work. Her passion for helping others shows through her positive disposition, her volunteer work at Greensboro Urban Ministries, and her dedication as a Senior Constant at The University Speaking Center. This has not gone unnoticed. Gomes was recently awarded one of the National Speaker's Association scholarships designed to aid potential professional speakers.

Hoping to one day become a motivational speaker, Gomes wants to instill hope into those who want to improve their situations in life. In addition, she hopes to employ her communication abilities to persuade leaders to act on the many social issues needing attention. Kissy Gomes wants to be a person who impacts the world positively; this award will help her on that quest.
