A Call For Dialogue
The John Andrew and Margaret E. Robinson Fellowship in Communication Studies is awarded each spring to a graduate student on the basis of merit. The student must be full-time the following school year. The amount of the award varies but has been approximately $1500 a year, or about $750 each semester over the past few years.
The faculty in the Communication Studies Program invite letters of application. Those who apply should prepare a letter of two to four pages in length documenting those accomplishments that concern merit. The letter might include such things as undergraduate and professional accomplishments in communication before entering the graduate program, academic achievements while in the program (including GPA and any special recognition), professional achievements while in the program (such as quality instruction as a teaching assistant, professional meetings attended, and scholarly papers read or published), extracurricular and community activity related to communication studies, and future goals.
Send the letter to Joyce Ferguson, c/o the Department of Communication. Attach a self-addressed envelope for mailing a receipt (for off-campus addresses, be sure to stamp the envelope). Deadlines for receiving applications are announced each year but are usually in late March. The award is announced in early May.
