Undergraduate Dance Audition:
Please note: the date of our next undergraduate audition has changed. Our next Undergraduate Dance Audition will now be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010. Registration for the audition is required and interested students should submit a completed Audition Request Form to the Department. The registration deadline for the March 27, 2010 audition is Friday, March 19, 2010.

Laura is living and making work in San Francisco. She spent the previous four years living in and falling in love with Brooklyn. In New York, she worked as a company member of Ellis Wood Dance, Christopher Williams Dance, Nina Winthrop and Dancers, and several other choreographers doing project work. She also made work that she's shown at various NYC venues. She is still super tight with the UNCG Brooklyn transplant crew (big ups to Kathleen, big kisses to Renay). Jahna Bobolia graduated in 2004 from UNCG with a BFA in choreography and performance. Since moving to New York, her work has been performed at Prana Man Dir, The Hatch, The White Wave Dumbo Dance Festival, Waxworks, The Cool New York Festival, and at University Settlement. Jahna has recently been performing for B.J. Sullivan, Labor Force Dances, and Notes in Motion.

Courtney is currently managing and teaching at Dance It Up! Dance Center in North Grafton, MA, and is also teaching third grade at Perkins in Lancaster, MA. At Perkins, she will be teaching students with emotional and behavioral needs who have struggled in public school. She is still showing professional work in Boston, and is in the process of getting her company, CannDance Productions, off the ground.

Liz is living in Cary, NC and is attending Duke University in the class of 2013 Doctor of Physical Therapy program. She is also a certified Pilates instructor through Power Pilates in Chicago, currently teaching at the Rex Wellness Center in Raleigh. Liz spent three years in Chicago after graduating from UNCG, where she danced with The Dance COLEctive while also teaching dance and working on her Pilates certification. Since returning to NC, Liz has continued dancing and choreographing, having shown work at the NCDA Annual Event, The UNCG Alumni Concert, and more. Liz is also happily married to her wonderful husband, Cailen.

After working for Walt Disney Entertainment and dancing for Soul Play Modern Dance Fusion in Orlando, FL, Amy and her husband have recently relocated to Asheville, NC, where she is teaching at Center Stage Dance Studio and doing various choreography throughout the state. I teach at a studio and dance with their professional company (the studio where Gia Wright works and dances as well), in addition to dancing with Daniel Burkholder (in the DC area). I am currently living in Ardmore, OK with my husband and 18 month-old son, who I am caring for full-time. I am also teaching modern dance at three different locations in town and working towards starting my own modern dance company. This summer, I'm producing a short informal showing at an art gallery, and putting together a piece to submit to a regional dance festival. Anyone planning a move to the OK state? I need dancers out here desperately!
I am also in the process of starting a contemporary dancecompany in Ardmore, OK. There is only one other modern-based dance company in the state of Oklahoma, and they are located in Oklahoma City. I thought it might be nice to be #2!

Rhian Jaques currently lives in Carrboro, NC and has been dancing with the JVD Dance Group, based out of UNCG, since 1996. Received MA in Dance Performance from UNCG in 2004. Trained by David Swenson in Primary and Second Series Ashtanga Yoga, 2002/2003. Currently teaches Ashtanga and Power Yoga at 9th St Dance, Durham, NC, O2 Fitness Club, Chapel Hill, NC, and primarily at the Carrboro Yoga Co, Carrboro, NC. Also an adjunct faculty member in the Dance Dept teaching yoga at Elon for the Winter and Spring terms, 2007.

Janet recently got a job to teach at Loyola Academy High School just outside of Chicago. It's a full-time position teaching dance and pilates. She says, "I am very excited. The community is great and their dance program is awesome. I will also be helping out with their dance company in the afternoons."
