1. All TAs in their first two years of teaching should conduct anonymous
evaluations of their teaching at the middle of the semester. These must
be shared with the individual who is supervising/observing, so that any
problems can be addressed promptly. It is recommended that all faculty take advantage of this opportunity to determine student response
to a course while there is still time to make improvements.
2. All full-time and part-time faculty and teaching assistants in HHP
are required to conduct end-of-semester course evaluations (by students)
of each course taught every semester, using the HHP-approved form (Appendix 9). These evaluations are to be made available
to the Department Head for review. Copies are retained in the individual's
files.
3. To reduce bias, the instructor must leave the class while students
are completing the evaluation. A student should be designated to take
the evaluations to the Dance Office. Completed evaluations will not be
made available to the instructor until final grades have been given to
the Registrar. Comments are distributed right after the end of the semester;
the printout of quantitative information takes longer. [Note: Course evaluations
by students may also be completed on-line. Interested faculty should contact
Dr. Jane Harris, JDHARRI5@uncg.edu.]
