Disagreements are inevitable in any community. The ideal way to resolve a concern with a single person is to go to the person for a discussion. If the concern cannot be resolved at this level, the next step is to go to the Department Head. This is also true for any Department-level concern. (Graduate concerns may be taken to the Graduate Coordinator as an intermediate step.) The Department has a formal procedure for hearing undergraduate student appeals (Appendix 17). If the concern cannot be resolved with the Department Head, the next step is to approach the Dean, Dr. David Perrin. There are also grievance procedures at the School level, and beyond that at the University level.
