Office Hours

Make sure your name is on your office door by the time classes start. By the end of the first week of classes, you should have office hours posted. Put office hours on your syllabi. All faculty (full-time, part-time, and TAs) in the Dance Department must post office hours each semester. For full-time faculty, a minimum of four hours per week should be available for appointments and walk-ins. For part-time faculty and teaching assistants teaching two or more courses, a minimum of two hours per week should be available. For part-time faculty or teaching assistants teaching one course, a minimum of one hour should be available. It is suggested that these blocks of time be broken into at least two time blocks, on two different days. These open office times should be kept open, and faculty should be available in their offices, even if no one has signed up. If conflicts arise, alternative office hours should be posted for that week.

In addition, students should be made aware of your procedure for scheduling appointments at other times, since not all students will be free during your office hours. This could be accomplished by posting available times on your office door so students can sign up, or by carrying your appointment book to class daily and scheduling appointments yourself. In any case, students need to know your process.
