No-Shows and Disappearing Students

Grade sheets will be made available to you electronically, on Genie. If a student is on your initial grade sheet but does not come to class, or disappears and you don't see them again, check the web listing and see if the student has withdrawn. (You need your University ID and your 6-digit password to check your class list on Genie. Only the Instructor of Record is able to get into this information, through “Log into Secure area” under UNCGenie To get a password, contact the Business Office for Client Services, 43962.) If the student has not withdrawn but is not attending class, try to contact the student to ask him/her to drop the class. The secretary should have information on how to contact dance majors. (See also Excess Absences by Students.) If a student's name is on the final grade sheet and you think they have withdrawn, check with the student or the Department Head. Sometimes computer problems keep a withdrawal from going through; we try to resolve these situations without penalizing students.
