The Department has a collection of videos that may be shown in classes. These are located in the Video Archive (220E). A graduate assistant (sometimes more than one) is assigned each semester to work in the archive and to make tapes available to faculty and students who need them; hours the archive is open are posted on the door each semester. Only faculty and TAs may sign out Departmental videos; videos are used for all dance course work at UNCG and are in demand. It is essential that you sign videos out when you take them, return them promptly, and sign them in when returned. Take as few videos as possible at one time. You should return all videos in a week or less. There is no reservation system in place, so plan wisely. The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) also has a collection of dance videos; you may access the list by typing in Dance under the subject heading at http://library.uncg.edu/utlc/ You may call TLC (334-5078 check phone #) to have them deliver the video, or you may have students watch the video at TLC, either as a group (in which case you need to ask to schedule a room at TLC) or individually (in which case you need to have the video placed on reserve). These can be good choices when you know in advance that you will need to be away from class. Extensive use of the dance videos in TLC encourages the purchase of additional ones. (See below for equipment when you want to show a video or film in the HHP building.) TLC videos are generally of better quality than the tapes available in the dance department. For the Department Policy on video taping concerts, use of video room, video watching, dubbing, and editing, see Appendix 13. Please note than faculty should not assign students to watch videotapes in the archive room.
