
Helen Simoneau is a native of Québec, Canada. She has created new works for the Bessie Schönberg Residency at The Yard, the North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA), the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble in Michigan, and has re-staged her work for The University of Oklahoma and Hollins University. Her solo "the gentleness was in her hands" took 1st Place for Choreography and 3rd Place for Dance at the 13th Internationales Solo-Tanz-Theatre Festival in Germany. In 2007, she was selected as one of five choreographers for the Swiss International Coaching Project (SiWiC) in Zurich. She has had the pleasure of dancing for Lorraine Chapman The Company, Chris Yon, Athena Vahla in London, and was an apprentice for Isabelle VanGrimde in Montréal. Simoneau graduated from the NCSA with a B.F.A. in Dance and served as adjunct faculty from 2004-2008. She also graduated from Hollins University/ADF with an M.F.A in Dance. Her work has been presented at Studio 303 and Tangente in Montréal, WUK in Vienna, CCN-Ballet de Lorraine in France, the Athens International Dance Festival in Greece, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival (Inside/Out), Joyce SoHo, Dixon Place, Dance New Amsterdam, Movement Research at Judson Church, The North Carolina Dance Festival, and has recently been toured throughout Germany. www.helensimoneau.com
