  1. Please attach a resume of dance training and/or professional experience that does not appear on your transcript. List any non-dance experiences you feel are significant to your application. These might include professional training or experiences in other fields through which you have gained skills and insights which have strengthened you as a student and/or dance professional.
  2. Submit a video or portfolio (see page 4 of Graduate Programs in Dance brochure).
  3. On a separate sheet(s) of paper, please respond to the questions below. Your answers will help us to evaluate your ability to think and write about dance, and to gauge your knowledge of the field and its significance within the larger culture. Please respond with fairly short answers ( less than one page per question).

    1. What is it you want to do in dance as a dancer, choreographer, designer, teacher or scholar? (Write about all that are appropriate.)
    2. What is it about UNCG that makes you think it is the place for you? Why do you want to be in graduate school now?
    3. More specifically, what is it you want to learn/accomplish during your graduate work here?
  4. Write a thoughtful 3 page, typed essay on ONE of the following questions:

    1. In what ways do you think the existence of and the developments in dance impact the larger culture?
    2. Why is dance important for human beings?
    3. How has dance been important in your life?
    4. Why is_____(some particular field in dance) important to the dance world?
    5. Describe your most profound dance or movement experience and what made it so profound.
