Course description:
Development of performance
skills for intermediate dancers through rehearsals and performances of a
significant dance work choreographed by dance faculty.
Student Learning outcomes: Through the experiences provided in
this course students will make progress in learning to
1.
Improvise movement material to meet the stipulation(s) of choreographic
prompts;
2.
Adjust qualities of performance to meet the stipulation(s) of choreographic
directives;
3.
Respond quickly and accurately to manipulations of choreographic
sequence/structure;
5. Prompst grasp of new
material, combinations and manipulations of existing material.
Teaching strategies: To facilitate studentsÕ accomplishments
of the learning goals, I will create and rehearse a new dance work in which
students will perform, and provide oral and written feedback to students as
necessary during the creation and performance period.
Evaluation Methods and
criteria for assessment:
Students will be evaluated at mid-term and at the end of the semester on
their achievement of the above-stated learning goals using the attached
ÒRepertory Class Feedback Sheet.Ó
Assignments: In addition to rehearsing and
performing the dance work created in class, students are required to:
Absences and latenesses:
Students are expected to arrive to class on time and ready to work with active
focus on assigned tasks. Two absences may be accrued without deduction from the
final grade. After 4 absences, students will be dropped from the course.
