Housekeeping Concerns
Dance studios are very difficult to keep clean. There is a custodial staff who tries to keep studios and dance theater floors swept and mopped on a regular basis. Their job, however, does not give them the responsibility of cleaning up after sloppy students. Students should make every effort to pick up after themselves in order to keep the studios uncluttered and safe for classes. Clothing which is left behind in studios will be turned in to the Lost and Found located in the HHP Equipment Room (1st floor). Other lost and found items, such as jewelry, may be turned in to the Dance Office.
Do not eat or drink anything except water in the dance studios. Spilled foods and beverages are very harmful to the dance surfaces and can be dangerous to dancers. Glass from broken containers is especially dangerous.
Food and drink are allowed in the Dance Theater, but it is critical that you clean up after yourself.
Street shoes are not allowed on the dance floors unless the shoes have been thoroughly washed.
Smoking is not permitted at any time in any space within the HHP building or within 25 feet of it. Ashtrays are provided for smokers outside the facility. DO NOT TOSS CIGARETTE BUTTS. BUTTS LYING AROUND GIVE OUR AREA A TRASHY APPEARANCE.
The Dance Department encourages recycling. Bins for aluminum cans and plastic bottles to be recycled are located outside the theatre door and in the Green Room. A bin for office paper is located in the Dance Department copy room. PLEASE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS FOR SORTING.
