Undergraduate Programs

BFA Students

The Department of Dance offers
two undergraduate degree programs: B.F.A. and B.A., and a Dance Minor.
An UNDERGRADUATE DANCE AUDITION is required for admission to the major (degree programs).

The Bachelor of Fine Arts The Bachelor of Arts
(B.F.A.) in Dance is a pre-professional degree program that recognizes special ability and potential in the aspect of modern dance as a performing art. A candidate for the B.F.A must demonstrate high quality work in the areas of choreography, performance, and modern dance techniques, as well as fulfill the academic program requirements. (B.A.) is an option for those who desire a liberal arts emphasis, a double major, or those who have specific dance education needs not emphasized in the other degree programs. Individualization is possible within this degree, with a variety of capstone courses available.
A Dance Minor Teaching in Public Schools
is available for students not wishing to specialize, but who have an interest in dance and want to complement their chosen major with dance study. Students wishing to declare a minor may do so online: https://web.uncg.edu/reg/secure/majorchange.asp. Licensure for teaching dance in K-12 schools is available for students enrolled in either the BFA or the BA in Dance.
