Time Warner Cable - Investing in the Triad Community Time Warner Cable has made a commitment to Piedmont Triad consumers that goes far beyond providing high quality service and products. Giving back to the community is a major priority for the company. Since 2001, Time Warner Cable has been a partner in UNCG’s effort to market the University and its services to the Triad community through its community donor program. Every year, Time Warner Cable provides in-kind contributions to support local initiatives and national non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Hospice, and the Boys and Girls Scouts through the production and distribution of public service announcements (PSAs). In 2004, the value of these PSAs exceeded $4 million. UNCG was one of the first organizations to work with Time Warner Cable’s Community Donor Program and has been a major recipient of the program. Through the contribution of PSAs, UNCG has been able to promote its athletic events, academic programs, and professional development services to Time Warner Cable’s nearly 350,000 Triad area customers. Darrell Heinrich, Director of Public and Governmental Affairs for Time Warner Cable, believes that public service announcements can be a tremendous resource and provide a great return to organizations such as UNCG. “We can and do make the public very aware of the purposes and the activities of supported organizations through complementary PSAs. That awareness can last for years and ensure continued patronage and support.” Time Warner Cable places a high priority on good corporate citizenship and public service. The company’s emphasis is on fostering education, economic development, health, human services, technology, and the arts. Time Warner Cable's community activism embraces corporate philanthropy as well. Each year Time Warner Cable also donates tens of thousands of dollars directly to local, small, non-profit organizations for their outreach programs. “By reaching out to our communities, supporting their interests and activities,” said Heinrich, “we really dedicate ourselves to the development of community programs and resources that enhance the pride in and the quality of life of our community.”
