UNCG Applies Research Capabilities to Biotech Industry by Dr. Keith Debbage
Across the country, the biotechnology industry has become a focal point of economic growth, and the Triad is no exception to this rule. A UNCG study released this summer has assessed, for the first time, the Triad’s biotech strengths and weaknesses. It also compares the region to other metropolitan economies with strong biotechnology sectors.

Betsy S. Barrett Named 2005-2006 Corporate Relations Committee Chair
UNCG’s Development Office and the Corporate Relations Committee selected Betsy S. Barrett as the CRC's Chairperson for 2005-2006. Betsy is currently Senior Vice President / HR Business Partner at Wachovia, Piedmont Triad Region. Previous to this position, Betsy was Regional HR Manager for the organization. She has been with Wachovia since 1988. Betsy is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and the School for Bank Administration in Madison, Wisconsin.

How's Your Golf Swing These Days?
If there's one thing every golfer can use, it's a good piece of golfing advice. When The Wall Street Journal wanted scientific advice on swings, slices, and putts, it found the answers at UNCG. The front page of the Journal's special golf section on Monday, April 18th 2005, prominently featured Bob Christina, dean emeritus of the School of Health and Human Performance, discussing his research on such topics as curing a slice and the most effective practice methods.
