The UNCG Theatre is presenting the world premiere of the comedy Jersey Shore House in the Brown Building Theatre. The production is UNCG Theatre's latest, and will run through Sunday, May 4. The play was written by Michael Ferrell, a UNCG alumnus who now resides in New York City. Jersey Shore House is a comedy mixed with drama, which explores aging populations and their adjustment to shifting social norms and diversity.

R. Timothy Rice
R. Timothy Rice, CEO of Moses Cone Health System, will deliver the inaugural lecture of the McDowell Research Center for Global IT Management. Titled IT in Healthcare The Good, the Bad and the Potential, the lecture will take place Thursday, May 1 from 3:30-4:45 p.m. in Room 160 of the Bryan Building.
Rice was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Moses Cone Health System in August 2004 after serving as Chief Operating Officer from 2001 to 2004. Prior to 2001, Rice served as Executive Vice President of The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and as Executive Vice President of the Health Services Division. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Washington State University and a master's degree in health administration from Duke University.
Rice serves as board chairman for the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and also serves on the boards of the Greensboro Partnership, the N.C. Hospital Association, Guilford Technical Community College Foundation and the UNCG Foundation.

The much acclaimed St. Petersburg Ballet will perform the romantic ballet classic Romeo and Juliet as part of the University Concert & Lecture Series. The performance will take place on Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m. in the Carolina Theatre in Greensboro.
The St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre features a 60-member company that will perform to a score by Sergei Prokofiev.

World renowned and Grammy-nominated string quartet Cuarteto Latinoamericano will perform at the School of Music as part of the George W. Dickieson Chamber Music Endowment. The free performance will be held on Friday, May 2, at 2:30 p.m. in the School of Music Recital Hall.
The event will feature works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Astor Piazzolla, Miguel del Aguila, Arturo Marquez and Javier Montiel. Cuarteto Latinoamericano was formed in 1982 by the three Bitrán brothers, violinists Saúl and Arón and cellist Alvaro, along with violist Javier Montiel.
The quartet has recorded over forty CDs and their sixth volume of their Villa-Lobos 17 quartets cycle was nominated for a Grammy award in 2002 in the field of Best Chamber Music Recording, as well as for a Latin Grammy.
The concert is made possible by the George W. Dickieson Chamber Music Endowment, honoring the late UNCG School of Music professor who passed away in 2004.

The Bryan School of Business and Economics will explore Household Production Technology and the Baby Boom as part of the Department of Economics Seminars and Brown Bags Spring 2008 series.
The seminar will be held on Friday, May 2, at 3:30 p.m. in the Bryan Building, Room 206. The event features William Collins, Professor of Economics at Vanderbilt University. Collins, who received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Harvard School of Arts and Sciences, has published over twenty papers and is currently completing the book, No Place Like Home: An Economic History of Race and Home Ownership in America, 1900-2000.

Chancellor Sullivan pictured at a UNCG corporate luncheon
The greater Greensboro community will have a chance to celebrate the legacy of Chancellor Patricia Sullivan on Tuesday, May 13 from 3-6 p.m. during an open house retirement celebration. The event will be held in the Cone Ballroom of Elliott University Center. This event will be open to the entire community and the public.
Since announcing her retirement, effective July 31, Sullivan was honored at her final board of trustees meeting with the unveiling of the Science Building's new name, The Patricia A. Sullivan Science Building, as well as receiving the Old North State Award, signed by Gov. Mike Easley.
The UNCG School of Music will hold its biennial symposium, Focus on Piano Literature, from June 5-7. The 2008 Focus will center on Paris in the 1920s and the glamour associated with the post-war period. Among a full agenda of performances, the symposium will feature the following:

The UNCG Theatre and Triad Stage will collaborate throughout the summer on a pirate themed series of productions. The world premiere of Bloody Blackbeard will launch the third season of Theatre 232, a joint summer theatre festival produced in downtown Greensboro.
Blackbeard features music by UNCG alumna Laurelyn Dossett and explores the high adventure of the pirate Blackbeard. The play will run from June 8-July 6, 2008 at Triad Stage, 232 South Elm Street in Greensboro. The festival will also feature two additional plays; Redbeard's Revenge: A Child's Musical Dream of Pirate Adventure, which runs June 18-July 5, and David Ives' Mere Mortals, which runs June 20-July 5.
