A lot can happen in three years…especially with professors like Prashant Palvia leading the way. Palvia came to UNCG in 2000 with a vision to establish North Carolina’s first PhD program in information systems. By 2003, the first students were admitted.
“I was looking to apply my knowledge in new and creative ways. That’s why I chose UNCG. One of my proposals was this PhD program. The university was receptive and an excellent committee saw it through.”
Among the first to investigate global information technology, Palvia has put UNCG on the world map. He is Chairperson of the Global Information Technology Management World Conference, editor-in-chief of the Journal of Global Information Technology Management and author of several books on the subject.
Palvia credits the leadership at UNCG with his current momentum. “From the dean to the provost and the chancellor, the leadership style here is very impressive. They encourage creativity and new ideas.”
