The institute fosters research in the areas of biomedicine, genomics and genetics to create commercialization opportunities and community-based programs to nurture business development.

This center's mission is to improve the health of all women through collaborative research and education programs. An endowment will ensure continued funding of the programs and studies focused on women's health issues.

Community Service Internships and Service Learning
In order to encourage civic engagement and social leadership, we will provide stipends and grants to students who participate in unpaid community service.

School of Nursing – Learning Initiatives
These provide opportunities for students to engage and serve the community in a variety of nursing capacities, including the School of Nursing Health Centers that are dedicated to service-learning based clinical education and community service.

Center for New North Carolinians
This center was established as a result of the Chancellor's initiative to better serve immigrant and refugee communities in the state. An endowment will provide permanent funding.
