Pass it On
The other day I was listening to my twin daughters talk about Facebook, the social-networking website used by millions. Though initially its popularity grew largely among high school and college students, Facebook is now an important tool used by businesses and non-profit organizations as well as individuals whose ages span decades. Some of you probably even have your own Facebook page.
My daughters’ conversation got me thinking about the power of digital communications in today’s fundraising environment. Nothing can replace the face-to-face side of relationship-building in donor cultivation, nor should it. But it’s hard to deny the impact and efficiency of emails, web sites and online communities. In addition to dramatically cutting printing costs and paper waste, electronic communications allow for exponential word-of-mouth information-sharing at light speed.
With that in mind, I welcome you to the first official e-newsletter of the Students First Campaign. I hope that you’ll not only enjoy the newsletter, but make a point to pass it on to a colleague or friend. The Students First Campaign is just as much about great people making great things happen as it is about raising money. These stories demonstrate UNCG’s commitment to being an institution that is responsive to the needs of our state and nation. They are meant to be shared.
When people are informed about UNCG’s impact on students and communities, they become inspired to support our work with their time, talent and treasure -- even in today’s challenging economic climate when "treasure" does not mean what it used to. UNCG supporters are those who are aware that we are actively seeking solutions and who know the importance of their continued participation in our mission.
We greatly appreciate your support and generous participation. Continue to spread the word about UNCG and our commitment to Students First. Forward this newsletter -- and be sure to check out more inspiring stories about discovery, reaching out and finding solutions at inspirechange.uncg.edu. You can even submit a story of your own; we’d love to hear how UNCG has inspired you.
Best wishes,
Dr. Patricia W. Stewart
Vice Chancellor for University Advancement
