Download Data for an IBM PC Compatible

Download the file to a hard drive or network drive on your computer. Be sure you know the directory to which you have downloaded it. After downloading the file, execute it by first selecting the "Run" command. If you are using Windows 3.1 or 3.11, you will find the "Run" command by clicking the "File" menu in the Program Manager's Menu Bar. If you are using Windows 95, click the "Start" button, and look for "Run..." in the first menu which opens. After you select "Run," a window will open into which you enter the name of the file containing the program. If, for example, you downloaded the file to C:\, you would enter C:\NEUFELD.EXE .

When the file executes, instructions will display asking for the location where the files are to be written. Place a blank diskette in the A drive and tell the program to write the files to A:\.

If you are an instructor, place the file in a location accessible to students (preferably with read-only access) and create a Windows icon which will execute the file. By clicking this icon, students will be able to easily create their own data diskettes on your system.
