Course Description: In the graduate fiction workshop we will discuss student fiction, essays about fiction, and related issues of craft.

 

Student Learning Goals: Upon completion of this course students will have a greater understanding of the many ways fiction works and will have improved their skills in crafting original fiction.

 

Requirements:           *Reading of all materials distributed in class for discussion

*Written critiques of each work of student fiction, to be submitted to the author on discussion dates and turned in to the instructor in a portfolio due April 24

*50 pages of original fiction

 

Class Attendance: No unexcused absences

 

Scheduling: I will pass around a sign up sheet for student fiction discussion dates. Work will be due the Friday prior to the discussion date. Supplementary materials will be assigned as pertinent to issues that arise from our discussions and/or open slots arise.
