Entry |
"Under certain conditions, a school district may hire a qualified individual
to teach if he or she holds a bachelor's degree in the subject area to be taught,
from a regionally accredited institution. This individual must be accepted
into and complete an approved licensure-only program at an area college or university
within a specified period of time. In some circumstances an individual's
employment as a full-time teacher may meet the requirements for student teaching.
However, student teaching is not automatically waived without proper documentation.
"Note: Lateral entry candidates need to initiate admission procedures as soon as they receive a contract. The University cannot be responsible for individual deadlines required by teaching contracts. The applicant must provide all required paperwork in a timely manner in order to be admitted." --(pg. 17, Teachers Academy Alternative Licensure Handbook for "A" Licensure-Only and NCTeach)
