Dr. Baker specializes in Middle English literature, especially the fourteenth century. She recently published the Norton Critical Edition of The Showings of Julian of Norwich (2005). Inscribing the Hundred Years' War in French and English Culture, a collection of essays she edited (SUNY Press, 2000), includes her own essay, " Meed and the Economics of Chivalry in Piers Plowman." Her study of Julian of Norwich's Showings: From Vision to Book was published by Princeton University Press in 1994. She has also written on Chaucer, Langland, Gower, and the other English mystics.
