Tony Cuda teaches classes on modernism and twentieth-century American literature. His research focuses on modern and post-war transatlantic poetry and poetics. He is finishing a manuscript, tentatively titled “The Passions of Modernism,” that addresses modernism’s fascination with powerlessness and vulnerability and its effects on theories of emotion, creativity, and inspiration in early twentieth-century writers including W. B. Yeats, Ezra Pound, Robert Frost, Virginia Woolf, and Thomas Mann. His reviews of contemporary poetry appear regularly in The New Criterion, FIELD: Contemporary Poetry and Poetics, The International Poetry Review, and the American Book Review.
