Scott Romine's specialties are twentieth-century American literature and Southern literature. He has published extensively on such authors as John Crowe Ransom, Richard Wright, Lillian Smith, A. B. Longstreet, Harry Crews, and William Alexander Percy. His essays and reviews have appeared in the Mississippi Quarterly, Southern Quarterly, South Atlantic Review, Southern Literary Journal, Style, Critical Survey, and several collections of essays. He serves on the executive committees for the MLA Southern Literature Discussion Group and the SAMLA SSSL Committee, and on the editorial board of the Mississippi Quarterly. His first book, The Narrative Forms of Southern Community, was published in 1999 by LSU Press.
