Stephen Yarbrough works in critical theory, rhetorical theory and history, and American literature and culture. His books include Irving Babbitt (with Stephen C. Brennan, 1987), Deliberate Criticism: Toward a Postmodern Humanism (1992), Delightful Conviction: Jonathan Edwards and the Rhetoric of Conversion (with John C. Adams, 1993), and After Rhetoric: Studies in Discourse Beyond Language and Culture (1999). His current book project, tentatively titled "Inventive Intercourse: The Pragmatics of the Creation of New Truth," is at press.
