Welcome to Gradutate Studies in English at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro! The Department of English offers degree programs leading to the Master of Arts, the Doctor of Philosophy, the Advanced Master of Education, and the Master of Fine Arts. Please visit each program's individual page for application procedures, areas of specialization, and job opportunities. Our distinguished faculty has a strong commitment to teaching, and the size of the programs allows students to develop individualized courses of study with their advisors. We currently have about 150 students enrolled in the four programs. The strengths of the program include rhetoric and composition, American literatures and culture, British literature and cultures and creative writing, and these students bring diverse, mutually enriching interests to the classrooms. In addition, these areas of study and the program as a whole are strengthened by close ties to other departments in the university.
