The Dance

by Hannah Hoover

This suspension in air has breath
hanging onto the end of this breath
while I feel my body breathe
just for a moment of breath
until my center loses breath,
my soul empties breath
I collapse underneath my breath
and my balance is thrown, who thrives on this breath
I continue, out of breath
I dance.
