Lavender and Chamomile

by Stephanie Adams

I sink deep into my tub
So that my eyes are just above the water,
My hair gliding on top
Like a mob of water moccasins.

Lavender and Chamomile

A scent that claims to make a baby’s eyes
Heavy
With dreams
And it’s seeping into me

I want those dreams.

Closing my eyes I surrender
       And sink
                Surrender

And sink into a place I once was.

Walking along side a stream
And rhododendrons were letting
Their pink petals fall on our faces.

Floating in slow motion
They are fighting against
The rush of time.

With those flowers
I’m fighting.
Our tactics

So graceful.
