Exercise Physiology at UNCG

Exercise Physiology unites students with a shared interest and curiosity about physical activity despite differing career and professional aspirations. The knowledge gained in the academic field of exercise and sport science may be acquired through experiencing physical activity, scholarly study of physical activity and professional practice centered in physical activity. Educating the community, including patients, clients, athletes and children on how to employ physical activity to improve performance, health and well being, relies on application of knowledge gained by professionals in the area of exercise physiology.

Faculty in the area of Exercise Physiology include Paul Davis, Ph.D., Allan Goldfarb, Ph.D., William Karper, Ph.D., Nancy Stoudemire, M.Ed., and Laurie Wideman, Ph.D. Research interests of the faculty span from applied functional aspects to subcellular research. The laboratory provides an environment of academic, applied and professional excellence. The mission of the UNCG Exercise Physiology laboratory is to promote quality scientific inquiry that encompasses various aspects of performance, health and well being and that can enhance and promote quality of life. Our program integrates research, application and professional practice and includes the study and exploration of the interaction between physical activity and disease across the lifespan.
