Curriculum Vita
Dr. Richard A. "Dick" Swanson has been a Professor of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro since 1980 when he assumed responsibilities as Dean of what is now the School of Health and Human Performance.
Since 1992 he has been a full time member of the faculty in the Department of ESS where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the history of sport, physical education, and exercise science.
His scholarship includes co-authorship of two books on the history of American sport, exercise science and school physical education, as well as numerous published papers and book chapters on these subjects and administration in higher education. He has held previous faculty and administrative posts at San Francisco State University, Wayne State University, and The Ohio State University.
