The Department of Nutrition and Foodservice
Systems offers graduate programs leading to the Master of Science (MS),
Master of Education (MEd), and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. The
Master's and PhD degrees are offered with specialization in applied or basic
nutrition science.
Many full-time graduate students are supported by teaching
and research assistantships. The first year stipends for academic-year graduate
assistantships are $7,000 for master's students, and $11,000 for doctoral
students. These assistantships require 20 hours of service per week. Some
assistantships also are available during the summer and from individual
faculty members. Merit-based and minority- presence fellowships and scholarships
are available during the academic year. Out-of-state students may receive
either a waiver of the out- of-state portion of the tuition, or additional
support to compensate for a portion of these costs. All graduate students
must pay in-state tuition. For information on graduate tuition and fees charges,
visit the UNCG
Graduate School web site.
