Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN)
Design is in progress for the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, a state-of-the-art research facility at the Gateway University Research Park South Campus. This 94,000 S.F. facility will bring together academic and industrial stakeholders to drive education, research and economic development in Greensboro, the Triad, North Carolina and beyond. As a joint vision of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University, the JSNN will have 3 academic departments: Nanoscience, Nanoenvironmental Science and Nanoengineering. It will support established research programs by faculty from the two universities and will have its own faculty as well. The primary goal of the school is to be a world leader in research, nano related education and outreach.. Design is expected to be complete Fall 2009.

Advance planning is in progress on renovations to the existing Dining Hall facilities containing Dining Services Administration offices, various retail dining venues, including national brands, a full service all-you-care-to-eat board plan, (cafeteria), and a retail restaurant. The project is primarily intended to modernize the dining service points to continue to allow for high volume food service while improving the customer experience. All building engineering systems -- plumbing, fire protection, electrical and HVAC systems will be replaced. Construction will be accomplished in several phases in order to maintain service delivery in the building year-round. Design is expected to be completed by Spring 2011.
Guilford and Mary Foust Residence Halls - Renovation
Design is in progress for renovations to Guilford and Mary Foust Residence Halls built in 1927. The scope of work includes refurbishing the existing bathrooms, replacement of all windows, installation of a new sprinkler system and upgrades to the existing fire alarm systems. Design is scheduled to be completed by the end of Summer 2009.

HHP Locker Room Renovations
This project will provide a complete demolition and renovation of the current locker room facilities in the Health and Human Performance Building. The design will include an efficient reorganization of the space to meet the University's current and future needs. The project will provide general-use locker rooms and dedicated locker rooms for all team sports except men's baseball and golf and women's golf as they are housed elsewhere. The entire plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems will be replaced with new code compliant systems. Design is scheduled to be completed by December 2009.

Jackson Library Renovations
This project will modernize and improve major functions of the original 1951 wing and the 1973 tower of the UNCG University Library, approximately 124,200 S.F. Work will include renovations to the first, second and third floors as well as improvements to the basement level. The main circulation desk will be relocated; the men's and women's toilets will be relocated to improve circulation; the north reading room and reference collection areas will be expanded; and a new Information Commons/Instruction Lab will be added. Design is expected to be completed by December 2009.
Curry Pedestrian Mall - Safety Improvements
Safety improvements are currently being designed for the Curry Pedestrian Mall. Goals of the project are to enhance pedestrian safety at the Curry Building vehiclular drop off; improve pedestrian and child safety where the walkway interfaces with the Curry Childcare Center; and, improve the pedestrian experience along the pathway from the Curry Building to the Gatewood Studio Arts Building. A new crosswalk is also included to improve pedestrian safety in crossing Highland Avenue. Design is expected to be complete in January 2010.
